About David

“Putting the public in Public Regulation”

My passion is an economy that builds a sustainable quality of life and environment for all New Mexicans. I believe that money generated and circulated in the local economy builds stronger, more secure communities. Many of my activities have fostered and promoted sustainability. I have worked hard for renewable energy resources and strong, independent local economies.

New Mexico Land Trusts Advisory Board -Conservation Interests

President, SW Energy Institute -advocates for sane energy policy

Member, Sustainability Energy Collaborative

Founding Member, Permaculture Credit Union

Board of Directors, Los Alamos Study Group

Natural Resource Recovery Task Force -promoting healthy agricultural family farming in New Mexico communities.

Co-Founder, Local Energy -non-profit fostering community self-reliance in energy

I will bring rigorous and independent oversight to the regulatory process. I will ensure that utility, insurance and telecommunication companies doing business here in New Mexico have up-to-date audits, offer just and reasonable rates, and provide efficient and honest service. I believe they should be required to operate transparently and in your interest, and be answerable to all the people of New Mexico, not just to a few special interests.

David Bacon, 57, is a 34 year resident of New Mexico. He was educated at Colorado State University and University of Texas. David makes his home in Santa Fe County and enjoys family life, outdoor activities, reading, gardening and river rafting.
